"Not only did the gentleman pictured on this page (my father) teach me the game
of baskeball that I still manage to play today, but the wonderful author of this site, Dave Nanninga (Skid), also helped
me hone my skills. Thanks Dad, wishing you were still here. Many thanks to you, too, Skid. Keep up the great work!"

"This web site is truly amazing, so much
information. So glad to see all the knowledge of the Mineral Leopards. Both of my parents are graduates of MHS. I especially enjoy the vintage photos, much like the one of my
Dad, Francis Vermeire, on this page. He was a great guy and is sorely missed. He did love his Mineral
Leopards! Thanks Again!"

game in a steamy gym in Chatsworth or Piper City in front of a packed crowd. Doesn’t get any better for a small-towner!! Thanks for all your hard work… I love the memories!!"

was Mel Lye, who died in 1975 at the age of 36. I knew he had a memorable basketball career at Elburn High but it was very
moving to read Mr. Howard's first hand account from a time so far removed from mine (and I'm assuming
removed from yours). Please know that it means the world to me that you have preserved a corner of the internet
for my dad."

"What
a GREAT website this is. I have spent many hours looking at the different schools. I also have spent many hours
traveling around Northwest and North Central Illinois in search of old elevators.
I love driving around each town exploring and had always wondered if the town ever had a high school (the towns that I know
don't have one). I had many times thought about doing research to find out answers to all my questions and low and behold
I discovered this website and you cover every single topic that would run through my head such as school colors, mascot name,
when the school ceased to exist, where the kids go to school now, and on and on. I had no idea there were other people
out there who thought about this kind of stuff!! Thankfully my former high
school is NOT on this site. I am a alum of Morrison Community High School, class of '79. I'm glad to see
most of you guys (authors) are my "neighbors". Keep up the excellent work!!"

"I
think your page is just so interesting. I have long loved going to old gyms around the state, and in my former job I
used to have I would take a basketball and just shoot around in these old historic gyms. The sounds of a basketball
on these courts and just imagining the loyal fans cheering their sports teams. Gives one goose pimples when you
think about it. Now if only as a high school student I would have taken pictures of the old Irving gym, the Butler gym, the Taylor Springs gym, and the Donnellson gym, all of which I spent time shooting hoops at. Now that I am older I wish I would have been a little wiser and took
some photos along the way. Same with all the school districts I used to visit in about 55 of the states southern counties.
Oh well, still love the work you do. It really is nice. GREAT SITE!!"

others find very useful. You have provided people of all ages with an in depth site that brings back the glory days of
their high school years. Your site has also brought back to life high school memories from days gone that
I am sure have rekindled feelings and memories in many people. Though in the present many of the high schools may be gone,
they live on in the minds and imaginations of the people who attended those schools. In many ways those little schools
represented a lost innocence and purity which is gone in today's society; one that will never be replaced."

past Sunday (May 11). Then to my added enjoyment, I went to your website and must commend you again on the information
on all the schools listed. For example, I have lived in Iroquois County all my life and never knew that Martinton, a town just north of here, had had a high school. It must be very interesting
going to all these places in Illinois for research on these schools. Again I thank you very much and will continue to
read of the schools. It certainly brings back fond memories. Keep up the good work!!"

right--there is such an abundance of history and memories that can too easily fade into the past. Your site helps preserve

the loss, of a school district totally gone and fallen apart, Glory Days may be most of all that is left, especially when
considering the loss of memories available to all. That's part of why your efforts are exceedingly important, at least
as I see things. You are a wonderful asset."

"Great site guys. It's tough to think about schools closing and the history being forgotten.
My hometown sold or discarded a great many of the trophies won at the school. Just because a consolidation effort
takes place does not mean the history of the current school needs to be set aside. There is pride in the community
that goes beyond the consolidation. SO, I "salute" you guys for remembering that which, in some cases, our community
leaders saw fit to discard!"
